It should be noted that among Buddhist festivals, apart from historical events such as the birth, enlightenment, and parinirvana of Gautama Buddha, other celebrations like those for Bodhisattva Manjushri, Avalokitesvara (Guanyin), Maitreya Buddha are recognized as manifestations or designations by great masters and not directly mentioned in Buddhist scriptures. Disciples of Buddha should understand that these are skillful means to guide sentient beings towards attaining true understanding of Buddhism.

The Bodhisattva Manjushri’s sacred place is Mount Wutai in Shanxi.

A sacred place is believed to be where a Buddha or Bodhisattva attained enlightenment or preached. Paying respects and praying for blessings are not limited to the sacred place; one can silently recite the name of the Buddha or Bodhisattva with sincerity at any temple, at any time, and in any location.
